Welcome to Moss Vale Community Garden
The Southern Highlands Moss Vale Community Garden grows a broad variety of edible plants. Locals from around the area come together to create and sustain the community garden. We also celebrate the days gardening activities with morning tea and light lunch. The community garden is an educational resource for anybody interested in growing food organically, and living in a more sustainable way. Come along to one of our gardening bees on Wednesdays from 9.30am and Fridays from 10.30am to join in the fun and meet new friends.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Moss Vale Community Garden Incorporated invites you to our Spring Open Day on Sunday 16th October, 2011. We will be demonstrating how "dead easy" it is to get started in food gardening (with apologies to Peter Cundall).
We will open the gates at 10.00am then:
- have a short tour of the community garden vege beds and fruit trees at 10.15am sharp!
- pull on our gardening gloves and learn about successfully planting seeds & transplanting seedlings
- see how many vegetable varieties we can plant in small spaces (pots, boxes and small plots)
- learn simple strategies for caring for our food crops at home until we are ready to eat them
- get to take a sample of plantings home to babysit
We will also be firing our wood-fired oven around midday and making our own pizzas (roll your own) with a choice of toppings.
Coffee, tea and water available on the day. We will be finished by 2.30pm
Cost: $15 per person
$30 per family
Please wear clothes suitable for gardening - bring gloves, hats and sunscreen. ALL WELCOME. Please book before 13th October, 2011.

RECENT PAST EVENTS
Moss Vale Show 2011 Winners For several years the community garden has been entering produce in the local show. It is a great event to support and good fun to check out all the other exhibits in the pavilion. The traditional arena events and farm animal exhibits are also entertaining along with the sideshow rides, if that is your bent.
We sponsored two categories in this year's Show: Vegetables - 18 years and under
Fruit - 18 years and under
In March, Moss Vale Community Garden entered over twenty vegetable & fruit items in the produce section for judging. We were delighted to find that we had been successful in 11 categories. Five first place ribbons, four seconds and two thirds. This pips our total for last year's show winnings of nine prizes. We were very pleased with ourselves indeed.
